Getting Started with the Folders Module
Organize your templates into folders and subfolders so your team can find what they need, fast.
|
Folders Organize, Templates Live Inside Them
A folder itself doesn't hold content — it's a container.
Every message, whether SMS, Email, Voice, TTY, Inbound,
or Custom, is still built and saved as a template. Folders
just determine where that template lives so it's easy
to find later.
|
Overview
The Folders module gives you a structured place to organize every template
your team builds. Root Folders sit at the top level, and each one can
hold subfolders to further separate campaigns, projects, or seasons —
for example, keeping an outage folder separate from a billing folder.
Every folder also shows a list of the templates saved directly inside
it, so you can browse, search, preview, clone, or delete a template without
ever leaving the Folders view.

Step-by-Step Guide
|
|
Open the Folders module
From the left-hand navigation menu, select Folders.
You'll land on Root Folders, showing every top-level folder
your team has created, along with a search bar and a
Create Folder button in the top-right corner.
|
|
|
Create a new folder
Select Create Folder, enter a name
in the dialog that appears, and select Save Folder.
Use clear, descriptive names — like a project name, campaign
type, or date range — so the folder is easy to recognize
later.
|
|
|
Open a folder to see what's inside
Click any folder tile to open it. The breadcrumb at the top
(for example, ROOT FOLDERS / Your Folder Name)
shows exactly where you are, and a Back
button returns you to the previous level. If the folder has
no subfolders, you'll see a "No Sub-folders found!" message
— that's expected for folders used only to store templates
directly.
|
|
|
Browse or search templates inside a folder
Every folder view includes a
"List of templates under folder" section.
Use Search by template name to filter quickly,
or sort by the Created At column to find
the most recent additions.

Open a template from within a folder
Click a template name to jump straight into the editor. From
here you can update the Template Name, set
the Visibility Level (Only Me, My Division,
or My Company), and switch between message types — SMS, Email,
Voice, TTY, Inbound, or Custom — using the checkboxes on
the left of each section.
For detailed instructions on building these messages, please refer to our How to Create a Template guide. You will use the exact same methods here.

|
|
Save, clone, or delete your changes
Once your edits are ready, select Update
to save, Update as Draft to save without
publishing, Clone to create a copy, or
Delete to remove the template entirely.
A green checkmark next to the Visibility Level confirms your
permission settings were saved successfully.
