Campaign Preview Explained
What the Reach campaign launch preview screen shows, how to read subscriber counts and template details, and what to check before clicking Finish.
Overview
Before clicking Finish to launch a campaign, Reach shows you a summary of everything you have configured: the send date, templates selected, and subscriber counts per channel. This article explains what each part of the launch preview means and what to check before committing.
Where the Preview Appears
The preview is the final screen (Step 5 or 6) in the system campaign wizard, labeled Launch. It appears after you have set the timeline. You cannot edit anything on this screen directly. Use the Previous button to go back and make changes.
What the Preview Shows
| Section | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Send Date | When the campaign will start sending. 'Immediate' for now, or the scheduled date and time. |
| Expiry Date | The cut-off after which unsent messages are discarded. |
| Template(s) table | Each channel being used, the language, and a Preview button to review the template content. |
| Direct Preferences | How many subscribers have opted for each channel directly. |
| Default Preferences | Subscribers who will receive the message through their default channel preference. |
What to Verify Before Clicking Finish
- Template content: Click Preview next to each channel and read the message one final time.
- Subscriber counts: The numbers next to each channel should match your expected audience size. A count of 0 means no one will receive that channel.
- Send date: Confirm the date and time are correct, especially for scheduled campaigns.
- Expiry date: Make sure the expiry allows enough time for the full audience to receive the message.
- Department and category: You cannot see these on the final screen, but they were set in Step 2. If you are unsure, go back and verify.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I edit from the preview screen?
A: No. The preview screen is read-only. Click Previous to go back to the relevant step and make your change.
Q: What if the subscriber count on the preview is lower than expected?
A: Common reasons: some subscribers have no contact detail for that channel, or they are deactivated. Go back to Settings (Step 3) and review the filter settings.
Q: The preview shows 0 for a channel I expected to have subscribers. What should I check?
A: Confirm the channel is enabled on the program, a Live template exists for that channel, and subscribers have the required contact field (e.g., email_address1 for Email).
Q: Is the preview screen the last chance to stop a campaign?
A: Yes. Once you click Finish, the campaign launches. There is no undo.
