Overview
This guide explains how to test any email template directly from the Agent511 UI on the Exelon Production environment. Testing a template allows you to send a preview of the email to any address and verify the content, links, and formatting before or during troubleshooting.
Use this guide when a customer reports an issue with an email template — such as broken links, incorrect content, or formatting errors — and you need to reproduce or verify the issue from the support side.

Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:

- Shared team login credentials (User Name and Password) — contact Nikhil Mittal if you do not have them.

- A personal or non-corporate email address (e.g. Gmail) for receiving the test email.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps to test an email template from the Agent511 UI:
-
Log in to the Agent511 UI: Open your browser and navigate to https://exelon.reach-pc.com/reachui/app/#app/notifications. You will be directed to the Agent511 Preference Center login page. Enter the shared team credentials and click Login.

Screenshot 2 — Agent511 Exelon Production UI. Click the Notifications tab in the top navigation bar (highlighted in red box).
-
Navigate to Confirmations > Default: On the left side panel, expand Notifications > Confirmations > Default. This reveals the full list of available notification templates.
Screenshot 3 — Left panel. Expand Notifications Confirmations Default to reveal the full template list.
-
Locate the Template: Scroll down the list to find the template reported by the customer. Expand it by clicking the small arrow beside it, then navigate to the relevant language (e.g., English) > Email.
Under Email, two sub-options are available:- Email-Live — the active version currently being sent to customers. Do not edit this.
- Email-Draft — the version used for testing and updates. Always use this for testing.
Click on Email-Draft to proceed.
Example: For a customer reporting an issue with the Solar Ready Premise 45-Day Reminder, navigate to Solar Ready Premise 45-Day Reminder (1899) > English > Email > Email-Draft.
Screenshot 4 — Template expanded. English Email Email-Draft selected (highlighted in red box).
-
Select the Live Template Version: The right panel will display the available versions of the template. Identify the version marked with the ℹ symbol — this indicates it is the version currently active and being sent to customers. Click Select on that version to load it for testing.
Screenshot 5 — Template versions listed. Click Select on the version with the ℹ symbol (highlighted in red box).
Screenshot 6 — Tooltip confirming 'This template is currently used as live template'.
-
Send a Test Email: After selecting the version, scroll to the bottom of the page. Click the Test Draft button.
Screenshot 7 — Bottom of the template editor. Test Draft button highlighted in red box.
A popup appears showing a preview of the email. At the bottom of the popup, enter the email address where you want to receive the test, then click Send.
Note: Always use a personal or non-corporate email address for testing (e.g. Gmail). This ensures you can verify how the email and its links behave outside the corporate network.

-
Verify the Test Email: Check the inbox of the address you used. Confirm the email was received with the correct subject line and sender (no-reply@comed.com).

Open the email and click each link to verify they open correctly without any security warnings or errors. If a link triggers a certificate error or does not open, note the exact URL and error message for further investigation.

Troubleshooting & Common Issues
If you encounter issues while following the steps above, refer to this table for quick solutions.
| Symptom / Error Message | Root Cause | How to Fix It |
|---|---|---|
| Cannot log in to the UI | Incorrect credentials or no access to shared account. | Contact Nikhil Mittal for the shared team credentials. |
| Template not found in the list | Incorrect navigation path or template name mismatch. | Expand Notifications > Confirmations > Default and scroll carefully. Search by template ID if name is unclear. |
| Test email not received | Email filtered to spam, or incorrect email address entered. | Check spam/junk folder. Verify the email address and re-send if needed. |
| Link in email triggers certificate error (NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID) | Tracked link routing via track.comed.com using HTTP instead of HTTPS. | Refer to the related KB: Agent511 — Email Links Marked as Unsafe Due to Tracking URL Certificate Error. |
What to Check
After receiving the test email, verify the following checklist:
| Check | What to Look For |
|---|---|
| Email received | Confirm the email lands in the inbox and is not filtered to spam. |
| Sender address | Should be no-reply@comed.com. |
| Subject line | Matches the template subject configured in Agent511. |
| Email content | Text, branding, and wildcard fields (e.g. @customerFullName@) display correctly. |
| Links | All links open without security warnings. HTTPS should be used — HTTP links may trigger a certificate error. |
| Tracking URLs | Links may redirect via track.comed.com. Confirm they resolve to the correct destination page. |
Guidelines
What to Avoid
- ✕Do not use Email-Live for testing — always use Email-Draft to avoid impacting production emails currently being sent to customers.
- ✕Do not use a corporate email address for testing — always use a personal address (e.g. Gmail) to verify link behavior outside the corporate network.
- ✕Do not click Make It Live during investigation — this will publish the draft as the live template.
- ✕Do not close the ticket without documenting what was tested, what was found, and any links that triggered errors.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Can I edit the template content during testing?
A: You can edit the Email-Draft version, but do not click Make It Live during testing. Any changes saved to Email-Draft will not affect the live version until Make It Live is clicked.
Q: Why should I use a personal email address and not my corporate one?
A: Corporate networks often have firewalls or proxy rules that can interfere with tracked links (e.g. track.comed.com). Using a personal address (e.g. Gmail) ensures you see exactly how the email and all links behave outside the corporate environment, which is how most end customers will experience it.
Q: A link in the test email is showing a certificate error. What do I do?
A: Note the exact URL and error message, then refer to the related KB article: Agent511 — Email Links Marked as Unsafe Due to Tracking URL Certificate Error. This article covers the root cause (HTTP vs HTTPS tracking link issue) and the investigation steps.
